OUR TRAINER

Dawn lives in Rockingham County, North Carolina with her seven hounds and one CBHR foster. She is a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. She has trained as a hobby for more than 15 years, and attended a year-long training program prior to beginning her career as a professional trainer.
Much of the work Dawn now does is with rescued dogs with behavioral issues. Dawn has continued her education in behavior with much of her focus going to the study of stress and aggression in dogs. Dawn is also board member and secretary of the Animal Protection Society of Rockingham County (APSRC), works with several breed rescues, and volunteers at her local humane society.
In addition to her work with troubled dogs, Dawn also teaches basic obedience in several different formats, including private in-home training and group classes. Dawn loves what she does: “I won’t say it isn’t work, but it is the most rewarding work I can imagine. I’ve walked into situations where people were ready to give up, and there is nothing better than seeing the light come back into their eyes when they realize they can not only keep the dog, but that they can make him a real part of the family.”
